DPAP Faces Yet Another Blow as DDC Member Resigns – Dissatisfaction with Party’s Acceptability in Kashmir.

, August 19, 2023 – In a fresh setback to the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), led by former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the party suffered a blow with the resignation of District Development Council (DDC) member Verinag Peer Shahbaz. This development comes as a blow to the party’s credibility and resonance among the people of Kashmir.

Verinag Peer Shahbaz, a prominent DDC member, announced his decision to part ways with DPAP on Friday evening. Shahbaz emphasized that the party’s resonance and acceptability are not aligned with the sentiments of the people in Kashmir, prompting him to take this step.

In his statement, Shahbaz indicated that he found the DPAP’s policies and approach to be out of sync with the aspirations and concerns of the Kashmiri population. He expressed concerns about the party’s connection and alignment with the broader public sentiment in the region.

The resignation of Verinag Peer Shahbaz marks yet another dent in the political landscape for the DPAP, which was formed by Ghulam Nabi Azad in 2022 following his exit from the Congress party. The party’s mission to establish itself as a credible alternative in the political arena has faced ongoing challenges, with this latest resignation adding to its list of hurdles.
