Milestone Achievement: Police Seize Property of Drug Peddler in Sopore

23-august-2023: In a landmark move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken an unprecedented step by attaching the property of a notorious drug peddler in the town of Sopore, located in north Kashmir.

A senior police official confirmed that the property owned by Muzaffer Ahmad Bhat, commonly known as Tanga, son of Noor Mohammad Bhat from Batpora Sopore, has been seized. The property comprises a house built on six marla land.

Muzaffer Ahmad Bhat has been implicated in multiple cases related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at both the Sopore Police Station and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Jammu. A top-ranking police officer revealed that he is currently incarcerated at Kot Balwal jail in Jammu.

According to reliable sources, the entire Bhat family has been allegedly involved in the drug trade, with multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) lodged against them for drug abuse-related offenses.

This significant move of attaching both movable and immovable assets utilized for illicit drug trafficking has been hailed as a crucial stride toward eradicating the scourge of drugs from the district, as expressed by authorities in Jammu and Kashmir.

A senior police official highlighted, “The Sopore Police remains steadfast in its commitment to combat drug-related crimes and ensure the security and well-being of the local community.”
